  3. Utica University Esports Welcomes First All-Female Team
The four members of the first all-female eSports team at Utica University stands shoulder to shouler.

"It's a space where teamwork means friendship, and the joy of the game is just as important as the score."

Utica University's Esports Club is setting the stage for a gaming revolution once again, welcoming its first all-female team to the competitive program.

Alejandra Hernandez-Rosa '27, Wendy Sam '26, Emily Angell '27, Kennedy Reed '27, and graduate student Sierra Pena '26 (joining from online) are at the forefront of this exciting chapter.

Their enthusiasm for the game Valorant is not just about winning; it's about building a community where everyone can play, learn, have fun, and experience the life of competition.

"Utica Esports stands out as a place where differences are celebrated, and everyone has a chance to be a star," said Director of Esports, Daniel Sportello. "It's a space where teamwork means friendship, and the joy of the game is just as important as the score. This team is proving that esports is for everyone, it’s a place to connect, to challenge themselves, and to chase their dreams together."

With these five talented gamers, Utica Esports shows its arena is more than just a place to "play games."

The Carbone Family Esports Auditorium on campus is home for Pioneers ready to make history.
