Utica University's business and economics programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Institutions with programs accredited by ACBSP are committed to continuous improvement that ensures their business program will give students the skills employers want.

The ACBSP is a leading specialized accreditation body for business education supporting, celebrating, and rewarding teaching excellence. The association embraces the virtues of teaching excellence and emphasizes to students that it is essential to learn.

Chemistry

ACS promotes excellence in chemistry education for undergraduate students through approval of baccalaureate chemistry programs. ACS-approved programs offer a broad-based and rigorous chemistry education that gives students intellectual, experimental, and communication skills to become effective scientific professionals.

The mission of ACCE is to be a leading global advocate of quality construction education; and to promote, support, and accredit quality construction education programs. The purpose or purposes for which the corporation is formed are to: Promote and improve construction education and research at the post secondary level; Engage in accrediting construction education programs offered by colleges and universities; Maintain procedures consistent with policies and procedures established by other accreditation agencies to which the corporation may belong; Publish current information concerning criteria and procedures adopted by the corporation for accrediting; Report the results of its activities, List the colleges and universities which have or are seeking accredited programs of study in construction; Review at regular intervals the criteria which the corporation has adopted to evaluate programs in construction education; and Do any and all things necessary to carry out the purposes and conduct the business of the corporation as authorized by law.

National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education
 

Department of Homeland SecurityNational Security Agency

The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security jointly sponsor the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE CD) program. Utica University's BS and MS Cybersecurity programs have been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education for the academic years 2019-2024. The stated goal of the CAE program is to “reduce vulnerability in our national information infrastructure by promoting higher education and research in cyber defense and producing professionals with cyber defense expertise".

National Centers of Digital Forensics Academic Excellence (CDFAE)

Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center

The National Centers of Digital Forensics Academic Excellence (CDFAE) is a partnership between academia, standards bodies, and the US Government to establish best practices for digital forensics education. Education providers are held to digital forensics education standards based upon knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) used in the field. This approach advances the discipline of digital forensics and increases the number of qualified professionals to meet the needs of law enforcement, counterintelligence, national defense, and legal communities.

Utica University’s Educator Preparation Program has earned national accreditation from The Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP) for all undergraduate and graduate programs. This honor comes with a full seven-year accreditation following extensive review by the AAQEP Commission.

Interstate Reciprocity

New York State certification is accepted in most states via interstate reciprocity. Please contact the state education department of the state you are interested in teaching in for more details about the requirements to qualify for reciprocity. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Utica University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).

The master's degree program in nursing and post-graduate APRN certificate program at Utica University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).

Nutrition and Dietetics

Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics

The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics is an autonomous accrediting agency for education programs preparing students to begin careers as registered dietitians or dietetic technicians, registered. Programs meeting the ACEND® Accreditation Standards are accredited by ACEND®. ACEND® ensures the quality of nutrition and dietetics education to advance the practice of the profession.

The Utica University Nutrition and Dietetics, Coordinated BS major is in Candidacy status for ACEND Accreditation. Graduates of a program designated as having candidate status have the same rights and privileges as graduates of an accredited program and as such will be eligible to take the registration exam to become Registered Dietitian Nutritionists.

Occupational Therapy

Accreditation has been a stated function of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA®) since 1923. AOTA’s Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE®) is recognized as the accrediting agency for occupational therapy education by both the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). ACOTE is also an active member of the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA). ACOTE currently accredits 317 occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant educational programs in the United States and its territories. Physical Therapy

The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) is nationally recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). CAPTE grants specialized accreditation status to qualified entry-level education programs for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. Graduates are eligible for the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) and licensure in all states. Social Work (MSW)

In June 2024, Utica University’s Master of Social Work (MSW) program was granted initial accreditation until June 2032. The program will need to submit a progress report to be reviewed by the program’s accreditation specialist.

The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is the national association representing social work education in the United States. Its members include over 800 accredited baccalaureate and master’s degree social work programs, as well as individual social work educators, practitioners, and agencies dedicated to advancing quality social work education.
