Home to numerous academic programs, Utica University’s School of Arts and Sciences provides students with a strong foundation of knowledge, real world experiences, and the ability to think critically and engage with crucial issues facing society.

The School of Arts and Sciences is home to academic programs in two divisions:

  • Natural Sciences and Mathematics
  • Humanities and Social Sciences

The School of Arts and Sciences sponsors and manages a number of cultural and co-curricular activities at Utica University, which include:

  • The Advisory Committee for the Health Professions
    The Advisory Committee for the Health Professionals is designed primarily as a resource for pre-health professional students at Utica University.
     
  • The Applied Ethics Institute
    The Applied Ethics Institute promotes public discussion of contemporary ethical issues within the college, professional and civic groups, and the broader community.
     
  • The Asa Gray Biological Society
    The Asa Gray Biological Society is a student-run organization that fosters connections between biology students and faculty while promoting biological research and education.
     
  • The Center for Historical Research
    The Center for Historical Research provides resources and assistance to students, faculty, and members of the community, who are working on local and global history projects.
     
  • The Center of Public Affairs and Election Research
    The Center seeks to serve citizens, students, journalists, and scholars by providing research, commentary, and analyses of state, national, and international politics.
     
  • The Jackson Lunch Hour Series
    The Harry F. and Mary Ruth Jackson Lunch Hour Series is a program that brings musical and literary enrichment each week to the Utica University community.
     
  • The James Sherman Society
    The James Sherman Society is a non-partisan, student organization focused on politics and current affairs. The goal of this organization is to provide an opportunity for all students interested in political science to discuss issues.
     
  • Model United Nations Club
    The Model United Nations Club at Utica University is focused on teaching students’ debate, interpersonal communication, and research skills in preparation for the annual Model UN conference that Utica University attends, the Harvard National Model United Nations in February (HNMUN).

     
  • Theatrical Performances
    The Utica University Theatre Department produces two plays each year, involving students and community members alike.
     
  • The Utica University Regional Science Fair
    The Utica University Regional Science Fair is open to grades 7-12. The winning project has an opportunity to present their project at the INTEL ISEF national science fair.
